This one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course has been ddesigned for those who have an interest in child and infant basic life support.

 

If you have a professional interest, ie you are a child-minder or school teacher, etc then this course partly fulfils the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).    Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you have 12 hours of paediatric first aid training, so the 2-Day level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements.   This 6 hour qualification also makes up the first half of the 12-hour course.

 

Duration:

A minimum of six hours makes up this unit consisting of theoretical and practical work, plus sosme pre-course activity could be required.

 

Syllabus:

The subjects covered are as follows:

Responsibilities and reporting                              Resuscitation

Assessment of the situation                                  Minor Injuries

Dealing with an Unresponsive casualty               Epilepsy

Wounds  and bleeding                                           Anaphylaxis

shock                                                                                                                                                           

 

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by myself of the student’s skills and there will be a multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of knowledge.

 

A 3-year certificate will be issued subject to assessment.

 

Numbers:

A maximum of 12 students  can be accommodated on the course

 

Age Limit:

Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
